Kane County, Illinois
County of Kane is a county of the American state of Illinois. According to the 2010 census, it has a population of 515,269, making it the fifth most populous county in Illinois. The provincial capital is Geneva and the largest city is Aurora.
Kane County is one of the major counties in the Metropolitan Statistical Area designated by the United States Census as “Chicago-Naperville-Elgin, IL-IN-WI”.

The Chicago Metropolitan Area, also known as Chicagoland, is an urban area in the US that includes the US Census Bureau Metropolitan Statistical Area (Population 9.4 million) or the Combined Statistical Area (CSA) a little bigger. The CSA includes the city of Chicago and its suburbs, which encompasses 14 counties in the states of Illinois, Indiana, and Wisconsin, and is estimated to have a population of 9.83 million people in 2019. The region is home to more than 400 corporate headquarters, including 31 on the Fortune 500. For six consecutive years, Chicagoland was ranked as the top metropolitan region in the country for corporate relocations. The Chicago area is home to some of the top universities in the country, including the University of Chicago, Northwestern University, the University of Illinois at Chicago, DePaul University, and Loyola University.
There are several definitions of the area, including those defined by the United States Office of Management and Budget (OMB) as the Chicago-Naperville-Elgin IL-IN-WI Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) and the slightly larger Combined Statistical Area , and area under the jurisdiction of the Chicago Metropolitan Planning Agency (CMAP) (a metropolitan planning organization in Illinois).
