Broward County, Florida
Broward County is located in southeastern Florida, U.S. According to the 2019 Census Bureau estimate, the county had 1,952,778 residents, making it the second most populous county in the state of Florida and the seventeenth most populous county in the United States. [12] The county seat is Fort Lauderdale. [13]
Broward County is one of three southern Florida counties that make up the Miami metropolitan area, which was home to approximately 6,198,782 people in 2018. [14]
The province has 31 municipalities, consisting of 24 unincorporated cities and many unincorporated areas. It is also Florida’s sixth largest county by land area, at 1,322.8 square miles (3,426 km2). The urbanized area of Broward County covers 427.8 square miles of land. Most of the county is the protected area that extends west to the border with Collier County. The protected area is 796.9 square miles and is made up of wetlands. At its widest points, the county stretches for approximately 50 miles from east to west and approximately 27 miles from north to south, with an average elevation of 5 to 25 feet.
